Cloisters Coffee Shop

The Visitor Centre is open daily from 10.00am to 4.30pm to the general public.

Within the Visitor Centre is an Exhibition of the development of the Abbey and the life of the community of monks who lived here, along with its post-dissolution history. The exhibition includes a remarkable model constructed by Canon Geoffrey Ainsworth Williams of how the Abbey would probably have appeared in 1520.

Cloisters Coffee Shop, also housed in the Centre, has long had a good name for its home-made soups and cakes, lunches, and the friendly service given to its many customers. The Coffee Shop can be telephoned directly on 01254 828404 for larger groups to book in advance for lunch or afternoon tea. Cyclists and walkers are very welcome, and we don’t mind muddy boots!

Coffee ShopAdjacent to the Coffee Shop is the Gift Shop selling a wide range of products including:

Guided TourDuring the summer months guided tours of the ruins are available. Our 'monks' will give visitors an insight into how their predecesors used to live and work.

Guided Tours, with the guides dressed in authentic Cistercian Habits, can be arranged for groups or organisations. Snacks or light meals can be booked as part of the tour.

School parties and their teachers are encouraged to visit the ruins as part of their history studies. Specific information and work sheets can be produced to facilitate the visits.

Members of the Fellowship who act as tour guides also visit local organisations and clubs by invitation, to talk about the history of the Abbey and the life of the monks in its heyday.

Enquires about these services can be made by contact with the Abbey
Tickets to walk around the grounds and ruins are available from the gift shop
